The Twins drop by to watch me in the afternoon shows. Five shows with a 25 minute break between each show. They were all excited because I was taking them to ‘The Bullet Hole’ for training courses on how to handle a firearm.
It is important when you live miles from your nearest neighbor, to be able to take care of yourself.
While the Twins were training shooting small handguns I was in a shooting stall shooting at targets with my Smith & Wesson .500 Magnum.
This is one powerful firearm. It weighs in at about 73 ounces and a overall gun length (with the three-quarter inch ported compensator) is fifteen inches. The .500 Magnum actually handles much better than it would appear. The balance is toward the muzzle, but it hangs very well in the hands, and is easy to hold on target. After their lessons the Twins were in the bulletproof observation area watching me shoot. After my shooting time was up the Twins were jumping up and down with excitement and greeted me with big hugs and giggling “We want to go bang, bang with the big,big gun….please,please”. I said ok, if the trainer will check you out on the .500. They look so cute in the shooting glasses and hearing protection and hard-hat just in case they could not hold the big gun and it decided to slap them in the forehead.
This reminded me of cartoons where the coyote pulls a gun out of his pocket that is as big as he is. The Twins say they are 5′ 2″…..but I think that is on tiptoe.he he. They are very petite and the big gun in their hands look so surreal. The trainer checked then out and had a hold on their arms just in case the recoil was to much for them. Dropping the hammer on their first round, their was very little recoil action. The trainer give me a thumbs up, that they were strong enough to handle the recoil. They had lots of fun and were still excited hours later, chatting about the big gun, the big bullets and the very big bang.
